This spring saw the graduation of another group of residents in Level 2 Board membership Skills at Charlton Triangle Homes.
In the last 4 years we have been implementing a new approach to encouraging residents to gain accredited board membership skills training to create a pool of people with the ability and confidence to stand for election on the board and run local committees.
Charlton Triangle Homes (CTH) has been at the forefront of this approach and has benefited hugely from the input of these tenants.
Previously there had been difficulties recruiting tenants and leaseholders on to the main board. Following the board membership skills training, the organisation turned the corner and for the first time the number of tenants standing for board election outnumbered the vacancies.
The training was not only proved to be effective in providing succession for the board and meeting the need for diversity of the people on the board but also in supporting residents to develop their personal and professional skills.
We are extending the delivery of Board membership skills training to Council (ALMO) tenants and leaseholders.
